As part of a school-wide focus on the theme of heritage and home, year 5 and 6 students responded to iconic imagery of Asian art to create these watercolour monotype prints. Chinese ink landscape painting, motifs from Peranakan tiles, decorative designs on Chinese porcelain and ukioy-e prints provided inspiration for these pieces.
Students focused on refining their brush control and use of the printing press.
The imagery used by students for inspiration for their watercolour monotypes originated from their own home countries and the school location. Students were encouraged to re-imagine classic works and experiment with exploring alternative compositions.
