Technology plays an important part in enhancing student learning in art. Used alongside traditional art materials and techniques, technology can enrich student learning experiences in art.
Independent research and inquiry
To support student inquiry in art I encourage students to use the internet to gather inspiration and independent research about themes and artists. I ensure students understand about e-safety, digital citizenship and accessing reliable sources of information.
Visual inspiration- Pinterest
To provide additional visual inspiration for students and collaborate with other art teachers I regularly create and share boards on Pinterest. I create vision boards based around project themes, artists, processes and techniques linked to units of work. These boards allow students to access ideas and relevant imagery in order to develop their ideas both in and outside of the classroom setting.
When collaborating with other staff members on developing units of work, shared boards can facilitate sharing of ideas and best practise.

See Saw digital portfolios
SeeSaw is a student driven digital platform used to create a student, teacher and parent learning dialogue. I encourage students to upload imagery of their artwork and with guidance, to reflect on their learning and progress. I am then able to provide student feedback and view parent comments.
It is a valuable tool to enable students to become reflective learners and to share and celebrate their learning with their parents.

Technology to aid exploration in art
Using the interactive features of the iPad app Google Earth and NASA Zoom Earth satellite, students were able to explore diverse locations around the world. Both places that students had previously visited as well as virtual journeys to new corners of the globe provided students with inspiration for their paintings.
Students were encouraged to take creative risks and experiment with a range of painting effects in order to depict a variety of geographical features.

Flipped learning using technology
To facilitate independent and home learning I provide students with access to online tutorials, instructional videos and relevant information in order to deepen understanding of the themes, techniques and processes prior to and after art lessons.
Digital art
Used alongside traditional art processes and techniques, digital art using iPad apps and programs such as Procreate, Photoshop and Everyone Can Create provide students with another method of expressing ideas, exploring techniques and enhancing existing art skills.

Laser cut art
Members of the social enterprise art group worked in collaboration with the art and design technology departments to design and create sets of coasters and placemats for sale at a pop up shop in aid of charity. The laser cutter was used to raster designs to create multiple editions of student designs.

Future world art field trip
Students aged 9 to 10 visited the Art Science Museum in Singapore to experience the interactive artworks at Future World. The exhibition was created in collaboration with teamLab, a renowned interdisciplinary art collective known for creating cutting-edge digital installations.
The experience allowed students to see the potential of combining digital technologies with fine art practises.
