Students responded to the theme of natural forms in order to explore and refine their use of line, shape, tone , texture, colour and pattern. They learned how to use a range of mark-making techniques and manipulate a range of media, including mono-printing and pen and ink drawing. To further develop ideas and explore new techniques, students researched and responded to the work of a range of artists and designers including Albrecht Durer and William Morris.
The project culminated with a final wrapping paper printmaking outcome based on prior investigation into natural forms.

Research, and design development studies
Here are examples of the project development over the course of the unit from initial research sketches, design development and final printed outcomes. Students used a combination of mono-print drawing techniques and pencil sketching.
