Members of the Social Enterprise Art Group worked in collaboration to found their own company to manufacture artwork to sell in support of the school's nominated charity, the UWS Gnang Som Toch School in Cambodia. A focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals promoting quality education and reducing inequalities were an emphasis of this initiative.
Members of the group from Year 5 (age 9-10 years) chose a company name, 'Splash of Creativity' and launched a series of pop-up shops selling a range of hand-made glazed ceramic decorations and greetings cards inspired by traditional Cambodian textiles.
Prior to the launch, students spent many weeks creating and testing prototypes. Students learnt many new art skills as well as gaining entrepreneurial experience through conducting market research, creating brand identity, developing sustainable packaging solutions, mass-production, sales and marketing skills.

Developing product range
To create a wide range of products for sale, students expanded their product range from glazed ceramic Christmas decorations to include hand-printed greeting cards, lazer-cut placemats and coasters inspired by Cambodian culture.
Pop up shop series
Students opened a pop-up shop to sell the products they had designed, developed and created. Students had to think carefully about the design of their stall, product pricing, profit and sales techniques.
