 teacher ART WORKSHOPS

Below are a variety of examples of teaching and school support staff wellbeing art workshops and professional development sessions I have run.

Japan

Staff art wellbeing workshop- watercolour monotype

This staff art workshop focused on creating a sense of community through art and to promoting wellbeing through the process of making art. I introduced staff to the watercolour monotype printmaking process.  In this session staff used woodblock printing and Nihonga painting from the host country Japan as inspiration for their artwork.

Staff art wellbeing workshop series- watercolour monotype printmaking

The aim of the staff art workshop after school series was to promote well-being though the process of making art and to develop an appreciation of art across the school. During these series of workshops I introduced staff to the watercolour monotype printmaking process.  In this session staff were inspired by traditional Singaporean Peranakan art and Chinese brush painting, celebrating the culture of the host school.

FOBISIA plastic fusing art workshop series
As part of the FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) art and design technology conference, I ran a series of art workshops for visiting art teachers from a range of international schools in Asia.

The conference focused on sustainability and innovation within art and design and enabled teaching staff to take part in workshops and share good practise. Using only found materials such as plastic bags, wrapping and packaging the workshop focused on highlighting sustainability and reducing the impact our actions have on the environment.

The workshop I ran introduced plastic fusing techniques to create painterly compositions using recycled plastic bags and packaging.

Staff batik art training session

As part of a Year 4 unit exploring Malaysian culture, I ran a batik art training session for assistant teachers and classroom teachers. The session introduced safe working practises using hot wax batik as well as teaching a range of processes and techniques. Alongside the session I provided staff with a step-by-step guide to the batik techniques taught in the session.

The aim of the training session was to equip staff with the skills and confidence to create a batik art piece together with their own classes.
