Students learned to create original monochromatic landscape painting compositions using atmospheric perspective techniques. Students developed their understanding and use of acrylic paint and brush control to mix and apply tints, tones and shades.
Students were given the challenge of re-inventing their own unique and creative interpretations of the '36 views of Mount Fuji' by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, a celebrated artist from the school's host country.
As the project evolved I expanded the opportunities for student 'artist experiences' by providing students with canvases of varying scale and table easels to facilitate acrylic painting on a larger scale.
