In this unit students responded to the simplified shapes and colours found in the landscapes of artist Georgia O'Keeffe and the expressive qualities of Claude Monet's Impressionist landscapes.
Students experimented with different methods of applying oil and chalk pastels to create semi-abstract landscape studies. Locations as diverse as the New Mexican desert, Icelandic wilderness and New Zealand plains provided inspiration.
